Over Memorial Day weekend, the U10-F Valley Flash traveled up the Turnpike early Sunday morning to Wilkes-Barre, PA. to play in the Whitewater Cup Soccer Tournament. Valley would tie their first game 2-2 and win their second game 4-3 in a rain shortened game, giving them first place in their bracket. After a 90 minute rain delay and watching the 3rd and 2nd place match-ups respectively, the girls would again take the field to play the Sting Rays from Back Mountain for the championship. Valley had good offensive pressure throughout the forty minutes of play but at the end of regulation time the game was still 0-0. A five minute sudden death over time period would take place to decide the winner. The strong offensive pressure from Valley Flash would continue with Mackenzie Gebhardt getting the ball by the Sting Ray defense and in the net securing their win. Outstanding goal keeping by Rachel Morelli , strong defensive play by Kiersten Gregory and Allie Kuprevich and tremendous mid-field play by Bridget Mayza, Jamie Hovanec and Ashley Serafin all contributed to Valley getting first place medals. Other goal scorers for Valley Flash were Karinna Milano, Grace Lingenfelter, Megan Wismer, Lauren Weeks and Courtney Drager. Pictured with Valley Flash are coaches Shane Wismer and Chris Drager.
